THE WORD EVEN (EVEN THOUGH): meaning and examples

Hello, Daily Vitamin readers! I hope your day is going well.

We are continuing our week about the word EVEN by focusing on EVEN THOUGH. We use EVEN THOUGH to show an unexpected result.

Example 1: Even though I studied German for 5 years, I don't speak it with confidence. (We would expect this person to speak German with more confidence.)

Example 2: Even though he's only 6 years old, he's an incredible singer. (It is unexpected for a child to be such a great singer.)

Example 3: Even though he didn't graduate from college, my father is a very successful man. (Sometimes we expect success from people who attend college; for those who didn’t, we often expect success to be more difficult to achieve.)

You might notice that EVEN THOUGH is similar to ALTHOUGH. The two are very similar. You can use ALTHOUGH in place of EVEN THOUGH in all of the above sentences.

Can you use EVEN THOUGH in a sentence? Post your sentence on one of our social media sites (Facebook or Twitter) and we'll give you some feedback.
