THEME THURSDAY: FAMOUS NOVEL OPENINGS ('A CHRISTMAS CAROL')
THEME THURSDAY: FAMOUS NOVEL OPENINGS ('A CHRISTMAS CAROL'): meaning and examples
Because of next week's holidays, this will be our only Theme Thursday post of December. We are, therefore, continuing our theme from November: we are looking at a famous expression from a famous Christmas book: Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
The famous line from this book is the following:
Bah, humbug!
Definition: an expression to show disgust.
The character Ebenezer Scrooge uses this expression when talking about Christmas. Mr Scrooge really hates Christmas! Nowadays we use this expression as a way to jokingly show disgust for something.
That's all for today. Thanks for reading!
