THEME THURSDAY: IDIOMS ABOUT FOOD (BRING HOME THE BACON): meaning and examples

Hi everyone! Welcome back to November's (and December's) Theme Thursdays, where we are looking at IDIOMS ABOUT FOOD. Today's expression will make you hungry: TO BRING HOME THE BACON.

Definition: to make money.

Example 1: I don't like my job, but someone has to bring home the bacon.

Example 2: My wife did REALLY well this year and got a great promotion. She is definitely the one who is bringing home the bacon

In this expression, BACON is slang for money. It's interesting that GRAVY is also slang for money, which we looked at two weeks ago.

That's all for today. Keep working hard to BRING HOME THE BACON! We will see you tomorrow for Phrasal Verb Friday.
