THIRD CONDITIONALS
THIRD CONDITIONALS: meaning and examples
Hello everyone and welcome back to Conditional week! Today we are looking at the THIRD CONDITIONAL. It is used to talk about something hypothetical in the past, that did not happen.
Its form is the following: (IF past perfect) (WOULD have past participle)
Example 1: If I had been born in France, I would have learned French.
Example 2: If I had gone to university, I would have studied History.
And here is one in the negative form.
Example 3: If I hadn't studied German, I would have studied Art History at university.
Now, you try!
Your friend was sick. You didn’t know your friend was sick. You always bring soup to your friends who are sick. Tell your friend what you would have done if you had known your friend was sick.
There is more than one option, as always. Leave us your answer(s) on one of our social media pages (Facebook or Twitter/X) and we will post the correct answer later. We will also include the answer in Monday's Daily Vitamin email.
Good luck and have a great weekend!
