Today's expression is: to catch a cold / to catch the flu
It means: to become ill with a cold or with the flu, two common winter illnesses.
You can catch other contagious illnesses too (measles, chicken pox, etc.).
Example 1:
Larry caught the flu from his wife. He spent 5 days in bed with a fever, congested nose and a sore throat.
Example 2:
Nancy: Ahhh-choo!
Frida: Bless you. Are you catching a cold?
Nancy: I think so.
So, if you are catching a cold, you'd better take care of yourself! Maybe take some vitamins, and of course, remember to take your Daily Vitamin for your English!
Enjoy your day!
