TO DOUBLE-CHECK
TO DOUBLE-CHECK: meaning and examples
Today's word is similar to yesterday's expression to make sure. I decided to include it because my students tell me that I say it to them all of the time! I guess I want them to look at their work very carefully.
Today's expression is: to double-check
It means: to examine or look at something twice to verify its condition.
Example 1:
The mechanic double-checked the brake system on the car during the inspection.
Example 2:
Please double-check your composition before giving it to the teacher. Look for typical errors and if you see any, correct them.
Have a pleasant day!
