TO FALL-11: meaning and examples

Hello everybody.

Today we finish our second series of Daily Vitamins about useful English expression that use the word fall (caer).

Today's expression is: to fall over yourself to do something (informal)

Meaning: to try very hard; to want to do something very much. 

Example 1:
Can you believe the new receptionist. She is falling over herself to impress the boss. I hope she doesn't burn out.    

Example 2:
They were falling over themselves to be helpful. It was a pleasure to have them around.

This expression is very common in the continuous tense (-ing), like the examples above.
