TO PAY SOMEONE BACK
TO PAY SOMEONE BACK: meaning and examples
Hello again. Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin.
Today we continue with our money theme.
Today's expression is: to pay somebody back
It means: to return borrowed money.
Example 1:
Thanks for letting me borrow the 100€. I will pay you back as soon as I get paid this month. I promise!
This is a phrasal verb expression and I've included it because it's very common in conversation; probably more common than 'return.' Example 2 is also acceptable:
Example 2:
Thanks for letting me borrow the 100€. I will return it to you as soon as I get paid. I promise!
However, Example 1 is much more common in normal (informal) conversation.

Thank you very much for reading and have a great day!
