TO SHUT UP SHOP

Once again, in today's lesson we look at another expression with the word SHOP in it. 

This week's fourth shop phrase is: to shut up shop

Meaning: to end an activity, usually a business activity, either temporarily or permanently.

Example 1: Many companies in the US are considering shutting up shop and transferring production to countries with lower-wage economies. 

Example 2: The restaurant has already shut up shop for the day, so we're going to have to look for another place to go for dinner.
