TOEIC WRITING PRACTICE: CONJUNCTIONS (WHEREAS)
TOEIC WRITING PRACTICE: CONJUNCTIONS (WHEREAS): meaning and examples
Good morning, readers! If you read yesterday's post, then you know that our theme this week is Conjunctions. Conjunctions are useful when writing complex sentences.
They are very important to learn and use for language exams, such as the TOIEC and Cambridge CAE and FCE.
Today's conjunction is: WHEREAS
Definition: In contrast to another fact.
Example 1: She enjoys Northern Italy, whereas I prefer the South.
Example 2: Whereas you spent your childhood with many brothers and sisters, I grew up in a quiet house as an only child.
Example 3: I am a vegetarian, whereas my brother eats meat.
That is all for today. Thank you for reading and have a great day!
