TRAVEL VOCAB: VACATION VS. HOLIDAY: meaning and examples

We are continuing with our theme for the week: Travel Vocabulary. Today we are looking at the difference between the words VACATION and HOLIDAY. Do you know the difference?
VACATION is used more in US English and HOLIDAY is used more in UK English. In US English, HOLIDAY is used for national or religious celebrations like Christmas, New Year's, or Valentine's Day.
Example 1: I'm going on vacation in two weeks.
Example 2: I'm going on holiday in two weeks.
Example 3: How was your vacation?
Example 4: How was your holiday?
