This week, we are looking at five Useful Acronyms. An acronym is a word made from the first letters of other words. For example, EU is an acronym for the European Union, UK is the acronym for the United Kingdom and USA is the acronym for the United States of America.Â
Today we are looking at the acronym AKA.Â
Definition: Also Known As.Â
Example 1: Samuel Clemens, AKA Mark Twain, is a famous American author.Â
Example 2: Princess Diana, aka "The People's Princess," was known for her humanitarian work.
Notice that you will see this acronym spelled with and without the full stops: AKA, A.K.A. (with the full stops), aka (in lower case), and a.k.a. (lower-case with the full stops), depending on the dialect and the context.
