USING THE WORD GET-4: meaning and examples
Hello again.
Today's lesson is the fourth Daily Vitamin in a series of five dedicated to the very useful English verb GET.
This time we will look at the most typical or obvious use of GET to mean to obtain or receive. Consider the following examples.
Example 1:
John got a new computer for his birthday.
OR
John's father got him a new computer for his birthday.
Example 2:
Letizia's parents got the chance to meet the King and Queen thanks to their daughter's engagement.
Example 3:
Diane sold her old car this week. I heard she got 3,000 euros for it, but I don't think it was worth that much.
