VERBOSE
VERBOSE: meaning and examples
Good morning / afternoon / evening everyone, depending on when you are reading this lesson. Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin!
Today's word is: Verbose (adjective)
Meaning: using or containing more words than are necessary.
Example 1: When I asked him why his sales were down this month, he gave me a very long and verbose explanation which basically blamed everything other than himself.
Example 2: I like his writing, but it's a bit too verbose for my taste. What could have been explained in one paragraph ends up being 2 or 3 pages. I would like his writing even more if it were less verbose.
If you would like some extra practice with this word, I encourage you to create your own original sentence with it. You can post your sentence on one of our social media sites (Facebook or Twitter) and we will give you feedback as soon as possible. Remember not to make your sentence too verbose. ;-)
We'll see you tomorrow with another lesson.
All the best!
