VIDEO: MATT CUTTS' 30-DAY CHALLENGE
VIDEO: MATT CUTTS' 30-DAY CHALLENGE: meaning and examples
For today's post, we are looking at a video on TED.com. In this video, Google employee Matt Cutts tells us about his experiences doing 30-Day Challenges.
What is a 30-Day Challenge? Cutts explains that a 30-Day Challenge is where you make a small change to your life for 30 days. You can add something, or you can take something away: the important thing is to make a small change. The goal is to improve your life a little by adding something positive or taking away something negative.
Before you watch, here is some vocabulary you might need for the video:
Morgan Spurlock: an author and movie maker who created the documentary Supersize Me. In this film, Spurlock ate McDonald's for 30 days to see how it would change his health.
John Hodgman: a comedian and author.
Stuck in a rut: to be unable to move (physically or metaphorically).
Give something a shot: to try something.
Follow in (someone's) footsteps: to do the same things as another person.
To dwell on: the act of focusing on something for a very long time.
Memorable: something you remember.
Likely: possible.
Sustainable: something that stays or remains.
Turn out: how something ends.
Figure out: to discover or realize.
End up: how something concludes; usually, this is not the ending you planned.
Give up: to quit.
