VOCABULARY FOR EMOTIONS AND FEELINGS: meaning and examples

Good morning / afternoon / evening everyone, depending on when you are reading this lesson. Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin! I hope your day is going well.

Today we continue with more words and expressions related to emotions and feelings. Each day this week we will look at two expressions: one related to negative emotion and one related to positive emotion. Our hope is that it will help you to improve your options when you want to express emotions in English.

Today's positive-emotion word/expression isOver the moon

Meaning: Extremely happy or excited.

Example 1: When she got the promotion at work, she was over the moon.

Today's negative-emotion word/expression is: Anxious

Meaning: Feeling worried or uneasy about something.

Example 2: She felt anxious about her upcoming presentation in English.

As always, in order to get some English writing practice, I encourage you to write a sentence with one or both of today's words/expressions. If you post your sentences on one of our social media sites (Facebook or Bluesky) we will give you feedback about your sentences as soon as possible (ASAP).

I hope the rest of your day goes well. We'll be back tomorrow with another lesson about words/expressions that we use to express feelings.

All the best!
