VOCABULARY FOR INTERESTING PROFESSIONS: TANNER
VOCABULARY FOR INTERESTING PROFESSIONS: TANNER: meaning and examples
Welcome back, everyone!
Today is our second day of the Vocabulary-for-Interesting-Professions theme and we are learning the word TANNER. Have you heard this word before?
Definition: A person who takes animal skins and makes them into leather. (This process is called "tanning.")
Example 1: This village is famous for its leather goods, and all of the tanners used to live in this neighbourhood.
Example 2: My great-grandfather was a tanner. I still have some boots he made.
You probably know the noun/adjective TAN: we use it to describe a person whose skin becomes dark after being in the sun. Now you know where we get this word from!
That's it for today. As always, thank you so much for reading. Have a wonderful day!
