VOCABULARY WITH 'EARTH': EARTH TO (SOMEONE)
VOCABULARY WITH 'EARTH': EARTH TO (SOMEONE): meaning and examples
Hello and happy Tuesday, readers!
Our theme this week is Vocabulary with the word EARTH.
Today we are learning the expression: EARTH TO (SOMEONE)
Definition: An expression to get someone's attention (when that person seems to be daydreaming).
Example 1: Earth to Suzie! Are you still listening?
Example 2: Earth to Sam! Where did you go? You were staring off into the distance for about a minute!
Example 3: Earth to Kenzo! Did you hear what I just said?
We use this expression because it seems like the person is "off in space" and not on Earth. Therefore, we say “Earth to…” in order to "bring them back" to Earth.
That's it for day two. Join us tomorrow for another lesson with this theme. Take care!
