VOCABULARY WITH 'EARTH': WHAT ON EARTH

Welcome back and happy Monday, everyone! I hope you had a fabulous weekend.

This week's theme is Vocabulary with the word EARTH. We chose this theme because the 27th of March is Earth Hour. This is a global event where people are encouraged to turn off their electricity and lights (and use candles instead). The event symbolizes our global commitment to saving the planet and fighting climate change. 

Today's expression is: WHAT ON EARTH?

Definition: An expression to show surprise. 

Example 1: What on earth are you doing?

Example 2: What on earth were you doing awake at 4:00AM?

Example 3: What on earth was I thinking?

We also say HOW on earth, WHY on earth, WHEN on earth, and WHERE on earth for different statements or questions. Here's just one example:

Example 4: Why on earth did I wear my hair like that when I was younger?
