VOCABULARY WITH 'MOTHER' (MOTHER HEN)

This week's theme is Idioms with the word MOTHER, in honour of Mother's Day.

Mother's Day is celebrated at different times in different countries. In 2021 Mother's Day was March 14th in the UK. In Spain it's on May 2nd, and in the US, Canada and Australia, it's on Sunday, May 9th.

The English language has many idioms with the word MOTHER.

Today's expression is: MOTHER HEN

Definition: A person who assumes an overly protective maternal attitude.

Example 1: Jenna is definitely the mother hen of our group of friends. 

Example 2: After one of his students got lost during a school trip, the new teacher was so worried about the children that he stayed close to them like a mother hen.
