Our theme this week is Idioms with the word MOTHER.

Today we are looking at the word: MOTHERLODE

Definition 1: A place that has very large supplies of a mineral or other natural resource.

Example 1: California's hills were the motherlode for gold in the 1800s. 

Example 2: They hit the motherlode for natural gas. 

Definition 2: Something that supplies a very large amount of something that you want.

Example 3: The library has been the motherlode of resources for my research. 

Example 4: My grandparents' diaries and photos were a motherlode of information about life in the early 1900s.
