WORDY WEDNESDAY: 'BALLPARK (FIGURE)': meaning and examples

Hello everyone, and welcome back to The Daily Vitamin! For our first May Wordy Wednesday post, we are looking at the slang use of the word BALLPARK

A
BALLPARK is the place where we play baseball. However, colloquially BALLPARK is used to mean "an estimate or a guess; a range within which an amount is likely to be correct."

Example 1
: I don't know the final cost of the repairs, but if you said 50 euro you'd be in the ballpark

Example 2
: Flight costs change often, but a ballpark figure for a flight from the U.S. to Europe is 1,000 euro.

That's all for today. Join us tomorrow for May's
Theme Thursday: idioms with insects.

Until then, have a great day!
