WORDY WEDNESDAY: 'SHOPAHOLIC': meaning and examples

Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin, everyone!

Today's Wordy Wednesday vocabulary is fun and a little silly. It is a slang word for people who love to shop. If you LOVE to shop, then you are a SHOPAHOLIC

Definition: someone who is addicted to shopping.

Example 1
: He spent six hours at the mall. I think he's a shopaholic

Example 2: My Mom goes crazy during the January sales. She is definitely a shopaholic

The suffix -HOLIC (-aholic o -oholic) is derived from the word ALCOHOLIC and is used for addictions; we often use it jokingly, as with SHOPAHOLIC, CHOCOHOLIC (someone who loves chocolate) or WORKAHOLIC (someone who works too much).

That's all for today. Have a great Wednesday! See you tomorrow for Theme Thursday and more lessons on IDIOMS WITH INSECTS.
