WORDY WEDNESDAY: STOKED: meaning and examples
For today's Wordy Wednesday, we are looking at a slang word you might hear younger English speakers (or people from the Western United States) use: the word STOKED.
Definition: excited or thrilled.
Example 1: I am so stoked for my vacation in August.
Example 2: We were stoked to hear about your promotion! Congratulations!
Example 3: He was really stoked for the concert. It's too bad that he is sick and can't go.
As you can see from the examples, we use the constructions STOKED FOR NOUN or STOKED INFINITIVE.
