WORDY WEDNESDAY: THE VERB RESOLVE: meaning and examples
For the first Wordy Wednesday of 2015, we are looking at a word that many people use this time of the year: RESOLVE.
Definition 1: to make a definite and serious decision to do something.
Example 1: This year, I resolve to stop smoking.
Example 2: In 2015, I resolve to be less stressed.
As you can see, the word RESOLVE is followed by an INFINITIVE.
Definition 2: To find an answer or solution.
Example 3: He resolved the math problem.
Example 4: The workers resolved their issues with the company.
This definition of the verb RESOLVE has a very similar meaning to the word SOLVE.
