HALLOWEEN VOCABULARY (GHASTLY)

LISTEN TO THE DAILY VITAMIN HERE:

Hello everyone and happy Friday! I hope that you enjoyed your holiday yesterday, if in fact you had the day off. 

Today we complete our Halloween Vocabulary week with the word GHASTLY

Definition: Causing great horror or fear; unpleasant. 

Example 1: What is that ghastly smell?

Example 2: I can never watch that ghastly movie again. 

Example 3: Did you see that ghastly painting? It's so scary!

HALLOWEEN VOCABULARY (PETRIFIED)

LISTEN TO THE DAILY VITAMIN HERE:

Welcome back and Happy Halloween everyone!

This week we are focusing on vocabulary related to Halloween, and today we are learning the word PETRIFIED

Definition: So scared that you are unable to move. 

Example 1: I'm petrified of heights. I can't even climb a ladder without shaking. 

Example 2: You look petrified. What's wrong?

Example 3: The children were petrified of the clown. 

Of course, there is also the "normal" meaning of petrified: when organic matter is changed into a stony substance.

Example 4: I found a piece of petrified wood on the trail. It looks like wood, but it feels like rock.

Tomorrow is a holiday in Spain, All Saints Day, so there will be no Daily Vitamin. Therefore, we will see you on Friday for one more Halloween-related vocabulary lesson.

HALLOWEEN VOCABULARY (SUPERSTITION)

LISTEN TO THE DAILY VITAMIN HERE:

Welcome back to our week of Halloween Vocabulary for the Daily Vitamin. We are looking at words related to Halloween; today we are learning SUPERSTITION

Definition: A belief that something is caused by a supernatural force.

Example 1: Some people think that black cats are bad luck; that's just a silly superstition

Example 2: Is Friday the 13th a day on which bad things happen? My friend thinks so; I think it's superstition

Example 3: One strange superstition is that you will have bad luck if you open an umbrella inside.

HALLOWEEN VOCABULARY (TO SPOOK SOMEONE)

LISTEN TO THE DAILY VITAMIN HERE:

Hello everyone! Can you believe that October is almost over?

This week we are celebrating Halloween, a holiday that is celebrated in different ways in different countries. We will look at Halloween Vocabulary this week. Today we are learning the verb TO SPOOK (someone/something). 

Definition: To scare someone or something. 

Example 1: I don't like these Halloween decorations. They really spook me!

Example 2: The house at the end of the street always spooked my sister when she was little. It looks like it's from a scary movie. 

Example 3: My brother wore a mask and spooked my dog.
